What to Bring to a Personal Injury Consultation
Use this checklist to make your first conversation easier, even if you are still gathering records.
Updated October 14, 2026 · Tabibi Law Firm
The basics
Write down when and where the incident happened, who was involved, and how you can be reached. Include any report or claim numbers. You do not need a polished account; a straightforward summary helps the attorney ask the right questions.
Records that can help
- Available photos, videos, and witness contact details.
- Incident reports and letters from insurance companies.
- Medical bills, treatment records, and work restriction notes you already have.
- Information about missed work and other documented losses.
- Any settlement offer, release, or document you were asked to sign.
Questions worth asking
Ask who will communicate with you, what information is needed next, how fees and case costs work, and whether there are urgent deadlines. Explain your main concerns, including treatment, work, or insurer calls.
You can call before the file is complete
Missing records should not prevent you from asking for a consultation. Tell the firm what you have and what is still unavailable. Avoid sending highly sensitive information through the public inquiry form; ask the team how to share documents appropriately.
